Ministry Staff
Steve Baxter
Lead Pastor
 

Steve brings over 25 years of pastoral experience to his role with us at Grandview. Along with pastoring churches, Steve has also worked with the FEB Central region of our Fellowship providing denominational leadership. He is passionate about God and about people and loves to use his teaching and pastoral gifts to help people discover and grow in their relationship with God. He and Pamela have been married for almost 28 years and have been blessed with two wonderful daughters. When you can?t find Steve working in his office or talking with someone over coffee, you may just find him out on a basketball court or taking a stroll in the woods looking for his golf ball.

Doug Martin
Teaching Team, Belonging Ministries, Caring Ministries

Doug is passionate about discipleship, mentoring and being part of a church fellowship which seeks to live missionally as God?s people in the world. He has used his gifts of visioning, teaching and people development in congregations in Toronto, Calgary and Kingston. His favourite quilter is Gayle, who has also been his wife for more than thirty years. He is passionate about being a grandfather, motorcycles and the outdoors.

Brad Watson
Teaching Team, Reaching Ministries, Learning Ministries

Brad has been at Grandview for over six years. He has helped redefine global short-term mission at Grandview and founded a dynamic movement called @theSource - a ministry committed to providing relief, renewal and resources through relationships in the Jinja area of Uganda, East Africa. Brad is also the visionary leader behind the Nexus Centre movement in downtown Kitchener where he leads a growing tribe of spiritual innovators and social entrepreneurs. He is a gifted teacher and story-teller, and is passionate about sharing the Gospel in creative, relevant and meaningful ways. Brad lives in Kitchener with his wife Kristen and their beloved cat Mr. Frank.
 
Carol Bell
Children's Ministries, Serving Ministries

Carol oversees all ministry to children Nursery through to Grade 6 at Grandview. She joined the Staff in October 2001. God has given her a heart not just for children, but for the volunteers who serve them so faithfully. It is her passion to encourage and equip volunteers to impact young lives in relevant and vital ways. Carol comes with a background in Early Childhood Education, Music, Administration, and years of volunteer experience in various church ministries.
 


Andrew Martin
Worship Ministries

Andrew joined the Grandview staff team in 2010 and is passionate about leading people to worship the living God. Although music is his craft, he desires to see a great variety of the arts used to help the people of Grandview focus UP in worship, IN as they relate to those around them and OUT as they impact the world. He has been married to Lisa for over 20 years and they have 3 incredible children who keep them on the run. Andrew makes good use of various tech devices including his iPhone, and is always looking for new roads to travel on his motorcycle.

Denise Heard
Director of Administration
 
Denise first came to this area as a U of W student, and has spent most of her adult life in accounting and administrative roles within the Region. She feels blessed to have been a part of the Grandview family for over ten years, where she has experienced wonderful friendships, an abundance of God?s love and grace, has had real growth in her faith and now is embracing the opportunity to serve Him through Grandview. She enjoys being with people, travel, golf, spending time with her two sons, and organizing whatever.
Aimie LeRuez
Grandview Kids Director
 
Aimie is constantly amazed by the capacity that children have to love God and others. Her desire is to see children develop an authentic relationship with Christ, that stands in stark contrast to that of society. Aimie has worked in Children's ministry since she was a teenager, and graduated from Heritage Bible College in 1998. She has a background in working with those with developmental disabilities. Aimie's biggest fan is her husband Colin, and is constantly inspired by her incredible son and daughter.
Nate Arena
Director of Student Ministries

Nate was born and raised in Woodstock and completed his Bachelor of Religious Ed from Heritage College in 2011. Over the course of his schooling and ministry experiences, God has placed a clear call to pastoral ministry on his heart. With the help of his wife Hannah, he has organized and run primarily Jr. and Sr. High Youth programs and has experience in various ministries ranging from children to adult. He has a passion to recruit, train, teach and equip leaders, youth, young adults and God's people for ministry and intimacy with Christ. By God's grace, Nate's heart for life and ministry is to know and love God with all of his heart, soul, strength and mind, to grow in these things, and to help others to do the same.

Danielle Gauthier

Danielle Gauthier has been a part of the Grandview Family for more than 12 years. She feels very blessed and grateful for the friendships developed through the years. Danielle enjoys going for walks and spending time with family and friends. Her twin daughters are grown and pursuing post secondary education.
 
Colleen Blundell

Colleen joined the staff team in 1995 and has been a part of the Grandview family for over 25 years. She enjoys reading, classic rock music and relaxing at the cottage. Colleen is married to her best friend, Howard. They are the proud grandparents of two adorable grandsons.
 
Nathan Kloetstra

Nathan joined the Grandview team early September 2006. He is a graduate of Summit College, and recently completed his education at Emmanuel Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious education in Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies . He and his wife Andrea have been serving with Grandview since 2001.
 
Elders

Peter Berndt
Peter has been a member of Grandview for 14 years and has served in various roles including nursery worker, Grandview Kids teacher, groundskeeper, teller, and usher. He and his wife Rosemary have hosted and led a cell group for the past 6 years. Peter and Rosemary have been married for 18 years and have 2 children. Peter is an elementary public school principal by profession and also holds a part-time professor role in the Faculty of Education at Wilfrid Laurier University.


Carl Hartwig

Carl and his wife, Maureen, have been attending Grandview since 2001. They have three adult children. During his time at Grandview, Carl spent 6 years as the Finance Team Leader. Over the last four decades, Carl has worked in the banking industry in various locations and currently works in Credit Risk Management at Mennonite Savings and Credit Union.


 


Stan Fowler

In 1993, Stan and his wife Donna moved from Toronto to Kitchener and became members of Grandview. Stan has served as an elder for many of the years since his arrival at Grandview. He and Donna have been married for 43 years, and they have four adult children and five brilliant and adorable grandchildren. Stan has the privilege of fulfilling his passion for thinking clearly about God and God?s works both through his work as a professor of theology at Heritage Theological Seminary in Cambridge, and by serving as a supply preacher at various churches. For fun he enjoys watching most sports, and he tries to play golf, but with limited success.



Dave Horton

Dave, his wife Zenia and their daughter have been attending Grandview since 2004. He is a business consultant and a social entrepreneur. Dave is passionate about entrepreneurial work and initiatives in Uganda and spends his spare time connecting the business community in KW to work and projects in Uganda. He is also one of the founders and core leaders of the Nexus Centre in downtown Kitchener whose mission is to connect with the downtown core and help bring about revitalization. Dave also enjoys playing hockey on the Grandview hockey team.




Bob Howard

Bob and his wife, Lorraine, have been attending Grandview since 1972, the year they were married. Over the years he has served in a variety of roles including small group ministry and adult education. Bob recently entered retirement after working for many years as an actuary, and recently served as President of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.



 
Reuben and his wife, Cheryl, have been attending Grandview since 2006. They have been married for ten years and have 3 sons. During his time at Grandview, he has served as a preschool teacher and as an usher. He is also involved in one of Grandview?s huddles. Outside of Grandview, he serves as a volunteer for the organization Focus on the Family Canada. In his professional life, he works as a flight procedure designer in the standards department of Nav Canada.


Ron Shields

Ron and his wife, Janeen, have been attending Grandview since December, 1998. They have been married 41 years and have 5 adult children and 7 grandchildren. Over the past 12 years Ron has served with Men's Ministry, directed the AWANA children's program, hosted a new believer's bible study, served on the Elder's Board for a 4 year term and presently leads an usher team. He recently retired from the Investment Department of SunLife.
