Our Mission
Grandview is a community of Christ followers whose purpose is to equip and encourage one another to grow in our relationship with God, loving him completely, others sacrificially and reaching out to a hurting world. (Ephesians 4, Matthew 28) Our Background
Grandview was born from a vision for a brand new church, given to the leaders of First Baptist Church in Waterloo. They were passionate about establishing a new church in southeast Kitchener. The first service was in October of 1969, at Grand River Collegiate, Grandview's first "home" for nearly four years. The church began with 54 founding members. In the early 1970's, God provided land just outside of Kitchener. The original property, with adjoining pond had an old two-storey log farmhouse. In 1973, Grandview began the first phase to construct a new facility. The second phase followed in 1984, and included the worship centre. The current facility was completed in 2003. Who We're Becoming...
Thirty nine years after that first service at Grand River Collegiate, over 1500 people call Grandview home. It is a dynamic family of Christ-followers that changes every day! But our focus is not on the "bricks and mortar" of Grandview, or how many people attend each week; it's on who we're becoming. Our goal is that every person at Grandview will embrace these six "foundations":
Grandview is Home
Grandview has always been known as a place where all newcomers can feel safe, comfortable and welcome. Some have told us "it feels like coming home," and we hope you will feel the same. We pray that you will feel a sense of belonging from the first time you walk in.
